About this project

For this assignment, I was embedded for three days with a group of rural Missouri teachers undergoing firearms training as part of a controversial program to arm staff in schools. The story raised complex questions about safety, policy, and rural self-reliance — and visually, it posed a unique challenge: I had to capture the intensity and nuance of the experience without revealing any of the teachers’ identities. Every frame required careful composition, timing, and trust.
